Who we are

I started this blog because observing, absorbing, and sorting what transpires on a personal level is who I am, and what I do. I did this in playgrounds as a child, in classrooms, and in the goings on of my family life. I did this as a cashier in my teens, as a hostess at a pancake house and as a receptionist. It guided my choice of careers and I still can't get enough of it. So, whether I do this in a therapy room, in a journal article, with those I love or in a blog, it doesn't much matter as long as I get to do it. I thank you all who visit here for letting me do what I do! Over time I've learned to turn it off when appropriate, but that isn't the mode best for me. So, I do this because here I get to be on.
Here is my question for you today: who are you and what turns you proverbially on? We aren't our occupation or the multiple roles we play. Those personas aside, who or what is really in there? Whomever or whatever, please come on out and/or stay out because the world needs you!

This post is timely! I was thinking about letting go of what no longer serves you, and what came up for me was that I need to continue to let go of my fear of being seen. And be willing to lead with vulnerability. So your encouragement really affirms that message for me. Who I am is healer, peacemaker, oracle and nurturing guide. But also, connoisseur of delight, big cuppa tea drinker and Hallmark movie fan.
That's thought-provoking and something I think about often as my girls get older. I'll be an empty nester before I realize it.
